Tonight
was KOK's second monthly Spirit Night, with special musical guest,
Andrew Robinson. This month, we expanded our outreach to include all
area ELCA church youth (and of course, all youth are always encouraged
to bring friends of their own!). Everyone had a great time at Holy
Grounds, enjoying coffee, rockin' smoothies, and of course, fantabulous
snacky foods! Andrew got the crowd singing along to some great
worship songs, as well as some great original and secular stuff, too.
The kids got a great opportunity to have some in-depth discussion time
amongst themselves and with Pastor Ben about what it means to be a
Christian in these times that can be especially tough for kids, and how
Jesus was able to try and exude great qualities that kids these days
can learn to emulate and that others can respond to.
Look for more Spirit Nights to come!

Confirmation
and C.H.A.O.S. got together tonight for KOK's first Spirit Night.
Spirit Night is a communal worship event that happens once a
month so that both Confirmation and C.H.A.O.S. kids can get together
for a fun & educational worship experience that includes music,
prayer, and a time of learning through dialogical interaction. Last
night, KOK got to enjoy the splendiferous musicianship of The Jet
Rodriguez. "While not
exactly traditional folk, but not quite pop, The Jet Rodriguez is on
the cutting edge of a neo-folk movement that is challenging the
boundaries of several different genres. " To get any more information,
ask any of the Confirmation or C.H.A.O.S. kids, or you can also
check out The Jet Rodriguez's page here.

Lots
of cool stuff's been happening around here lately! This week begins our
roof renovation over the Worship Center. We were hoping to wait a few
more years, but instead it turned out that we only had a few weeks. So,
we bid it out, and we're happy to say that we are well underway. The
cost of the project is $24,000 and specific funding was previously set
aside for just this occurrence, so don't be alarmed. By the way, if
anyone out there feels so moved as to offer a gift to offset the cost
of this building project, feel free to let us know here. Also this week, we dive into the KOK educational year with the kickoff of Sunday School, Confirmation, and C.H.A.O.S.
Be sure to check out these great programs for our young people!
If you'd like more information about any of the programs, drop us an email or give us a call at (586) 566-8660.
