The
King of kings Mission Fund-
Investing today in the ministry of tomorrow
Dear Friends,
Life is about more than just living.
We want to be able to make a difference in the world in which we live.
Thus, the desire to leave a legacy often changes how we spend our time.
While sitting on the sofa watching television can be a good thing, we want
to spend more of our time doing something that will have a positive effect
on the lives of others.
We want to do the same thing with
our financial resources. God calls us to give a portion of our income to
the work of the church, and King of kings is blessed with many strong and
consistent givers. This regular giving to the General Fund of the church
is the lifeblood of our ministry.
But there is more we can do. Some of
us are in the position to give from assets, in addition to giving from our
current income. We’ve saved some money, invested in stocks, sold a
vacation home, received a profit-sharing check, or received an
inheritance. We’re in the position where we can give a significant gift
to support the long-term work of the church. Perhaps we want to include
the church in our own Will and designate a portion of our estate to the
church. A Mission Fund has been established to allow and encourage members
and friends of King of kings to give to the long-term work of the church.
We pray that you will consider making
a gift to the Mission Fund. If you wish to discuss options, please return
the response card below, or call the church office at 586-566-8660
The King of kings Mission Fund
The King of kings Mission Fund has
been created to receive and administer major gifts given to the church
that will further the work of the church and our various ministries. These
gifts can come to the Mission Fund in many different forms, and can be
designated by the giver to be used in various ways, including as part of a
permanent endowment.
How It Works
Your charitable, tax deductible gift
will be immediately deposited into the Mission Fund. Gifts can be
designated by the giver as either a "MISSION GIFT" or an
"ENDOWMENT GIFT."
Mission Gifts may be designated to a
specific purpose and expended any time after the money is given.
Endowment Gifts will be pooled with
other Endowment Gifts and invested to generate interest income. This
interest income will then be applied to church ministries. The Endowment
Gift itself will remain in the fund permanently.
Both Mission Gifts and Endowment
Gifts may be further designated in a variety of categories, based on the
needs of the church, and the wishes of the donor.
Ways To Give
Charitable funds, like the King of
kings Mission Fund, are generally supported by gifts such as:

lasting impact that will further the work of God’s Kingdom through the
ministry work at King of kings. However you decide to designate your gift,
you can relax knowing that the Mission Fund Leadership Team will oversee
and administer your gifts to enrich and advance the Lord’s Kingdom. The
Leadership Team is comprised of gifted people with the knowledge and
experience to maintain and maximize your gifts.

Common Questions and Simple Answers
Q: Are Mission Fund contributions
used differently from weekly contributions?
A: YES. Mission Fund gifts will
enhance the work of King of kings separately from General Fund
contributions, which cover operating expenses. The Mission Fund, however,
expands our ministry work and provides for longer term needs and planning.
Q: Can I choose how my Mission Fund
gift is used?
A: YES. Both "Mission
Gifts" and "Endowment Gifts" can be designated to any of
the following categories:
1. Outreach: Grants to people in the
parish or our area who are in economic need, grants to students attending
seminaries, or grants to local social service agencies.
2. Missions: Supports worldwide
missions, provides grants for new congregational development in North
America, Educational Ministries, etc.
3. Building: Capital Improvements at
King of kings, debt reduction, and new building programs.
4. In addition, Mission Gifts can be
designated for causes and programs selected by the Mission Fund Leadership
Team. Remember, Mission Gifts may be expended however they are designated
when given. Endowment Gifts will be invested and only the interest will be
spent on the category. We will respect and uphold your wishes to fund a
specific ministry for the future.
Q: Who administers the Mission Fund?
A: The Mission Fund Leadership Team
will manage the funds investments and distributions. The Mission Fund
"Plan of Operation" outlines the Leadership Team’s
responsibilities. The Leadership Team consists of 5 members of our
congregation who are elected by the King of kings Congregation Council,
and are required to report to the Congregation Council on a quarterly
basis. The Leadership Team will also give a complete audited account of
the Mission Fund at the annual meeting of the congregation in the first
quarter of each year.
Q: Can I give in memory of a loved
one?
A: Yes, gifts may be given in memory
of a loved one or in honor of a special occasion. It’s a wonderful way
to perpetuate the memory and extend the influence of a departed loved one.
Q: Wills and gifts sound pretty
complicated. How do I get advice I can trust?
A: The Leadership Team has several
members who can assist you with any complicated issues. We also have a
member of the congregation who is a lawyer, and can be consulted for legal
matters. For simple Wills, he is able to prepare your documents at no cost
to you if you plan to include the Mission Fund in your Will. Contact the
Leadership Team for more information.
Q: What are the tax advantages of my
gift?
A: The results from this type of
gift can significantly reduce your income, estate, or capital gains taxes.
Please consult your own tax advisor, as situations can vary greatly. If
you are uncertain who you can talk to, simply contact the Leadership Team
by calling the church office or print and return the response card.
