WHAT TO DO IF . . .
YOU WANT TO JOIN THE CONGREGATION - Everyone interested in membership at King
of kings should plan to attend a New Member Orientation. During this three hour orientation,
we cover the basics of what it means to be a Christian, some history and teaching
of the Lutheran Church, and what it means to be a part of King of kings. Orientations
are offered several times each year, usually on Wednesdays evenings or Sunday afternoons.
After attending the orientation, you can make a decision about joining the congregation.
New members are formally received into membership at one of our worship services
a week or two after attending their orientation. Please
call office at 586-566-8660 for the dates of the next New Member
Orientation.
YOU WANT TO GET MARRIED - The first step is to call the church office to see
if the date you want to get married is clear on the church calendar and the pastor's
calendar. You may do so up to a year in advance. Because of our worship schedule,
Saturday weddings are scheduled no later than 3:30 p.m. If the date is available,
we will send you the King of kings Wedding Packet, which includes important guidelines
for planning your wedding at the Church. If you are not a member of the congregation,
you will need to attend the New Member Orientation, but you are not required to join.
All couples who want to get married here will meet with someone on the church staff
5 to 8 times to plan your wedding and for pre-marriage counseling. Because of the
importance of being a part of a Christian community, couples need to worship regularly
and actively participate in the life of the church during the months of preparation.
Call the church office at 586-566-8660 if you want more information.
YOU WANT TO DISCUSS BAPTISM - Baptism marks entry into the Body of Christ
and is an important step in the life of every Christian. Baptism at King of kings
is celebrated at any of the regular worship services on the second, fourth, or fifth
weekends of the month. Adults who wish to discuss baptism should speak with the pastor
to discuss baptism and church membership. Parents with children desiring baptism
should call the church office at 586-566-8660 and request a baptism brochure which
contains helpful information in planning your child's baptism.
YOU WANT TO USE THE CHURCH BUILDING -Please
contact the church office at 586-566-8660
to see if the desired building space is available on the date you
have planned.
